Hola! Gracias por visitar mi sitio. Mi nombre es Priscila Belén Escobar Gimpel, de ahí mi apodo prisbeleg. Desde que recuerdo quise estudiar una carrera que me permitiera conocer y proteger a los animales, fue así que me titulé de Veterinaria en la Universidad de Chile el año 2007 y años más tarde, el 2016, obtuve el Máster en Áreas Silvestres y Conservación de la Naturaleza. Profesionalmente me he dedicado a la conservación de fauna silvestre trabajando en distintas ONGs, fundaciones y consultoras ambientales.

Con el pasar de los años, me di cuenta que había dejado muchas cosas que me encantaba hacer cuando niña, como dibujar, pintar, escribir y manualidades en general. De a poco fui retomando y aprendiendo distintas técnicas. El 2006, mientras terminaba mi tesis, me inscribí en un taller de óleo, recuerdo como corría desde la U al taller en el pueblito Los Dominicos y me quedaba horas pintando sin parar, me concentraba tanto que se me olvidaba hasta comer (muy raro en mi), me relajaba, el tiempo pasaba de otra forma, no quería parar de pintar.

Pero nuevamente lo dejé de lado, pintaba un cuadro cada mucho tiempo, hasta que el 2017 comienzo nuevamente a tomar distintos talleres, realizo el Diplomado de Ilustración en la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile y el 2019 tomo clases de Ilustración Científica con la Academia Illustraciencia en el Jardín Botánico de la Universidad de Valencia, España.

Uno de los aprendizajes que obtengo de postergar este lado artístico, es que no debo ver el arte como algo separado de mi profesión, o de la ciencia en general, sino como un complemento, una herramienta de comunicación, para transmitir lo que considero importante y sensibilizar acerca de la protección de la naturaleza.

A través de mi trabajo, quiero contribuir con diversos proyectos personales y colectivos al conocimiento, valoración y conservación de todos los seres vivos. Por esta razón creo “Voces de la Naturaleza”, para poder ser la voz de quienes no tienen voz, o al menos no como los humanos la entendemos.

My name is Priscila Belén Escobar Gimpel (prisbeleg), ever since I remember I wanted to study a career that would allow me to know and protect animals, so I graduated as Veterinary at the University of Chile in 2007 and in 2016, I obtained my Master’s Degree in Wild Areas and Nature Conservation. I have dedicated myself to the conservation of wildlife working in different NGOs, foundations and environmental consultants.

As the years passed by, I realized that I had left many things that I loved doing as a child, such as drawing, painting, writing, different kind of crafts. Slowly I resumed my art and started learning new techniques. In 2006, while finishing my thesis, I enrolled in an oil workshop, I remember how I ran from the University to the workshop and spent hours non stop painting, I concentrated so much that I forgot to eat (very rare in me), I relaxed, time passed in another way, I didn´t want to stop.

But again I left it aside, I painted a picture every so long, until 2017 I started to take different workshops again. I did the Illustration Diploma at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile and in 2019 I took Scientific Illustration classes with the Illustraciencia Academy in the Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia, Spain.

One of the lessons I’ve learnt from putting off this artistic side, is that I shouldn´t see art as something separate from my profession, or science, but as a complement, a communication tool, to convey what I consider important and raise awareness about nature conservation.

Through my work, I want to contribute with personal and collective projects to the knowledge, appreciation and conservation of all living beings. For all this I have create “Voices of Nature”, to be the voice of those who have no voice, or at least not as humans understand it.
